Organization Description

Geenaction's mission is to mobilize community power to win victories that change industry and government policies and practices to protect health and promote environmental, social and economic justice.

Program Information

Interns will work on community health education and health advocacy in collaboration with Greenaction and our community partners including community groups and residents. This will involve projects in Bayview Hunters Point, San Francisco, West Oakland and possibly other low-income communities of color whose health is threatened and impacted by pollution. Interns will create health educational written material and visual tools that are informative and community-friendly, easy-to-understand and factual. Interns will engage in community education through neighborhood outreach, help to create and present trainings and workshops for community members, possibly help create and participate in community health surveys, and meet with and join in advocating with government agencies responsible for protecting public health.
