Organization Description

IHDC is a for-people, non-profit housing organization. Our mission is to help create a vibrant and dignified community through the purchase, renovation, maintenance and management of safe, comfortable and affordable housing. IHDC serves the Southeast Asian Immigrant community, and hopes to use this experience and leadership in the future to assist other low or moderate income groups. To foster this community spirit, IHDC seeks to: 1) encourage participation, empowerment and independence in the lives of all associated with us; 2) organize IHDC activities under tenant priorities, direction and involvement and 3) promote indigenous leadership.

Program Information

Interns will maintain our social networks and implement two health based programs based on a recent Safeway grant- one around the farm to table concept and one in the area of physical education. We are looking for support in health education grant research and writing with the opportunity for interns to take ownership over the grant process. Interns will work on current grants to make sure objectives are met and will support staff in providing, gathering, and analyzing data. Interns will also help support our kindergarten to college program that provides outreach to three SFUSD school systems around saving for college.
