Organization Description

The clinic provides high quality, youth-friendly services that include medical care, reproductive health, sports physicals, immunizations and management of acute and chronic conditions to Oakland Technical High School and Oakland International High School students and recent graduates from both schools up to the age of 21. In addition, we provide individual and group counseling, and case management services. Patients are seen by a clinical health educator who conducts one-on-one appointments that cover issues such as sexual health, birth control, and nutrition. The health educator conducts classroom presentations and coordinates a Peer Health Education Group and helps students develop presentation and leadership skills.

Program Information

Interns should be bilingual in English and Spanish and be comfortbale working with immigrant populations. Interns will work with the clients of Newcomers School for Refugees and Asylees to educate them about MediCal process, insurance forms, and set up appointments. Interns will rpomote clinic services to the student population. The interns should be outgoing with good communication skills. The interns should be resourceful and take initiative to complete projects.
