Hospice VolunteerAt — Maxcare Hospice
Volunteers assist patient's and families by providing companionship, short respite for caregivers, errands, writing letters, reading to patient's, vigiling while patient's transition, attend funerals, provide bereavement support after death. Volunteers must follow a plan of care under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator and the clinical team. Volunteers are considered a bonafide part of the interdisciplinary team and are responsible for completing visits and clinical charting within the appropriate time frame. Volunteers undergo 10 hours of formal training, as well as completing a TB and background test prior to accepting their first case. Volunteers are expected to remain the patient/ family volunteer until death occurs. Other opportunities include administrative support and community health-fair support.
