Organization Description

The mission is to provide access to healthy, affordable fruits and vegetables through certified farmers’ markets and community food programs. The vision is for every community to have a fair and sustainable food system.

Everyone's Harvest supports local farmers, encourages organic farming and increases local community's access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

Everyone’s Harvest, a non-profit, brings people and healthy food together. Everyone’s Harvest strongly believes everyone deserves the right to fresh, healthy, organic produce supplied by our local region and that free public events are necessary to strengthen a community.

Program Information

As the Community Food Program Intern, you will be working closely with farmers, chefs, and community members at our farmers’ markets, particularly in support of the Fresh Rx produce prescription program, Edible Education nutrition education, and researching the development of a Food Navigator program at our farmers' markets. This internship will help you develop many marketable skills, including project management, volunteer coordination, and communications, and gain insight into the inner workings of a nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities for Community Food Program Intern may include the following:

Support Market Program Manager at

Edible Education Events on site at EH Farmers’ market

Source produce for the Cooking Workshops and Outreach Events

Setup, teardown, and cleanup of Outreach and Edible Education Events

Distribute and Collect surveys

Collaborate with chefs to design and print recipe cards

Compile and analyze survey data

Gather & develop nutrition curriculum for the Fresh Rx program, liaising between the Market Program Manager, community groups, service learners, and volunteers

Create activities to engage children in discussion during the Farmer’s Market Tour

Assist Program Coordinator in Outreach Events: Presentations| Distributing vouchers| Developing new organization partners

Research the establishment of a food navigator position at Everyone's Harvest farmers' markets. 

Fresh Rx Program: This is an innovative partnership between healthcare providers and farmers' markets which focuses on preventative health care to fight the rise of chronic diseases related to diet and body weight. Doctors "prescribe" fresh fruits and vegetables to young overweight patients and direct them to the farmers' markets where they can receive $25 worth of fresh produce weekly.

  • Duties and responsibilities: Assist in the enrollment of expanded cohort of 100 new Medi-cal families served, strategize with community organizations to maximize program impact for food-insecure families, attend bilingual wellness classes to communicate benefits of the program to identified families and how they can participate, track families participation and identify new families when enrolled families become unable to participate, introduce participating families to other nutritional programs, conduct before and after surveys to analyze families changes of habit, solicit ongoing feedback from the participating families, and compile all the data gathered to assess program effectiveness.

Research Food Navigator program at Farmers' Markets

  • Duties and responsibilities: Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas of improvement, provide input to staff to develop funding proposals for the program to ensure the continuous delivery of services, ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization/governement, document program activities, oversee program records for statistical purposes, coordinate the delivery of services among partner organizations to increase impact, and monitor the program activities on a regular basis and conduct an annual evaluation.

Develop and implement a food navigator position with Everyone's Harvest farmers markets, help to interface with medical personnel who write produce prescriptions in order to develop accompanying nutrition and cooking education for patients in produce prescription program, help to implement suggested program changes from program evaluation.
