Organization Description

The mission of the Koreatown Youth and Community Center, Inc. (KYCC) is to serve the evolving needs of the Korean American population in the greater Los Angeles Area as well as the multi-ethnic Koreatown community. KYCC's programs and services are directed toward recently immigrated, economically disadvantaged youth and families, and to promote community socio-economic empowerment. KYCC’s Youth Services unit is looking for adult and youth volunteers (9th grade and above) who have a passion for working with youth and building positive and impactful relationships with children.  Most often, we ask our volunteers to provide our youth programs support in the areas of tutoring, mentoring, administration, classroom management, and specialized services (arts, music, technology, etc) support.  Training is provided upon start.  Because volunteers are building relationships with our students, and due to the training involved, we do ask that volunteers stay for a minimum of 3 months and come in at least once a week, unless the term is for the summer in which case 8-10 weeks is also acceptable, or if other agreements are made.  Volunteers 18 and over will be required to be Live Scanned prior to start, the cost of which will be reimbursed upon completion of agreed upon tenure.
