St. Francis Center
Organization Description
St. Francis Center (SFC) is a multi-service community center serving homeless families living in the South Park and Garment District neighborhoods (zip codes 90007, 90011, 90015, 90018, 90021). The mission of St. Francis Center is to assist the poor in obtaining the basic human needs of food, clothing and medical care, address the systemic causes of poverty through advocacy and empower the poor by giving them the tools necessary to build better lives and neighborhoods.
St. Francis Center hosts the Family Well-Being Project and the Homeless Well-Being Project. Some services include:
- A soup kitchen serving two nutritious meals five days a week; (M, T, Th, F 7:30AM – 9AM)
- Medical clinic and hygiene program for homeless and near homeless adults; and (W 7AM – 10AM)
- Grocery bag distribution for near homeless families and senior citizens; (M – F 10AM – 2PM)
- Holistic educational programs for neighborhood youth and their families; (M – F 2:30Pm – 5PM)
- Case management addressing the needs of homeless and near homeless families;
- Referral system of medical, employment, housing and supportive resources;
- Community forums addressing family and community issues.
