Organization Description

Students will have an opportunity to shadow the physical therapist during orthopedic evaluations, may be asked questions regarding anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, therapeutic exercises, and current research. Students will be tasked to keep the clinic organized and clean for patients. They may be asked to set up patients on exercise equipment, guide patients with certain therapeutic exercises, direct questions from patient back to treating therapist, and set up patients on modalities. By the end of this opportunity, students will have a strong understanding of the unique emphasis of the orthopedic physical therapy process; from style of evaluation, identification of patient's impairments and functional limitations, and development of plan of care. They will have an opportunity to break down the initial evaluation and brainstorm and create exercises for specific impairments.
