Organization Description

Our mission is to help older adults remain independent as long as possible, and to bring comfort and cheer when assisted living is necessary. For a list of our programs, visit www.heartofida.org

Program Information

Two projects available: 1) Students will work on AgeWell Long Beach Magazine and Resource Guide - decide on theme, do interviews, write articles, get a few ads, and put together the magazine so we can publish both hard copy (5,000) and online. This project would be well-suited for journalism, gerontology, human services, marketing, etc... 2) Holiday Hearts - during the month of November we start collecting personal hygiene products from the community. Students can ask businesses to collect donations, join our crowdrise campaign, and help organize our pack and act day on Dec 8th. All kits go to seniors in nursing homes, low income housing, assisted living, and individuals.

All students, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation, are open and welcome to participate.
