College and university students who are interested must follow the procedures below in order to be considered for a placement in Vista Unified School District.
Application Instructions
ALL college and university students looking to complete Service Learning hours in Vista Unified
School District (VUSD) should contact Michelle Gosnell in Human Relations via email (michellegosnell@vistausd.org) for a Service Learning Application Packet. Students should not contact schools directly for a placement.
The deadlines for placement requests are below. We will not accommodate last minute requests.
- Fall: October 1
- Spring: March 1
The following will also be required when submitting the completed Service Learning Application Packet
- Copy of driver’s license
- Copy of current TB test (must be within 4 years)
- If a student needs a TB test, please contact the campus health center
Service Learning Application Packets must be submitted in person to the receptionist at the Administrative Services Center, 1234 Arcadia Ave, Vista, Ca, 92084.
- Processing of applications can take up to 2 weeks. We will not accommodate last minute or rush requests.
- Once a placement has been found, the student will be contacted by Vista Unified School District to return to the Administrative Services Center for a Service Learning Badge. Students will not be allowed on any Vista Unified School District site without a Service Learning Badge.
- Please note: We offer college and university students the opportunity to volunteer at sites that are open to hosting these students based on the needs of the site and their teachers. Vista Unified School District is unable to promise a placement in our district, at a specific site or with a specific teacher.
SERVICE LEARNING STUDENTS WILL NOT BE LEFT ALONE WITH ANY VUSD STUDENTS AT ANY TIME.
