Program Information

The California State Legislature is a branch of the state government with the authority to make laws for California. It is a bicameral legislature consisting of a lower house, the California State Assembly, with 80 members, and an upper house, the California State Senate, with 40 members. The State Assembly consists of 80 members, with each member representing at least 465,000 people in the state. Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva represents the 65th Assembly District in the California State Assembly. The Orange County District includes the communities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton, Garden Grove, La Palma, and Stanton. Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva is also a proud mother, teacher, and former mayor of Fullerton.
