Program Information

The Center of Excellence on Elder Abuse and Neglect at the UC Irvine School of Medicine's Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology is committed to eliminating the abuse and mistreatment of our community's elders. Since its inception, the center has endeavored to help eliminate abuse and mistreatment through a variety of mechanisms at local, state and national levels. Locally, the center works with a team of local agencies providing medical services to abused, neglected and exploited seniors living in the community or in long-term care facilities. The center serves as a "living laboratory" of innovative approaches to preventing elder abuse. Nationwide, the center serves as a resource for professional technical assistance (e.g., expert witness, starting an elder abuse forensic center), professional training and research.
