Position Description
Volunteer Services strives to ensure volunteers working with the Red Cross have a quality and meaningful experience. We hope volunteers feel like family and their skill set is placed where they can make the most impact. This role will help us build a volunteer-driven work culture!
Learning Objectives and Outcomes
- Get to know what motivates and inspires Red Cross volunteers, soliciting feedback and finding solutions to barriers to success
- Create innovative ways to improve collaboration across departments (Disaster Services, Media/Communications, Service to the Armed Forces, and more)
- Solicit feedback from volunteers about their experience and provide recommendations to staff for improvements
- Support departments in volunteer management best practices
- Seek creative ways to keep volunteers active, consistent, and connected to the mission of the Red Cross
- Monitor volunteer activity to gauge level of engagement
- Support the planning and execution of Volunteer Appreciation events
- Address volunteer HR issues as needed, actively listening to volunteer concerns
- Learn the Red Cross “CRM” software or customer relationship management tool called Volunteer Connection
- Gain insights and access to one of San Diego’s leading nonprofits
