Organization Description

Associated Students’ mission is to support and represent the students of San José State University by continuing the organization’s legacy of student advocacy and leadership; to enhance SJSU students’ education through high quality programs and services; and to prepare students as they move towards a thoughtful and purposeful life after graduation.

Program Information

The Cesar E. Chavez Community Action Center (CCCAC) connects SJSU students with community service opportunities that deepen educational experience while promoting lifelong commitment to civic activism and social justice, which are at the heart of the César Chávez legacy.

Volunteer placements must be approved by CCCAC in advance.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Being a mentor for Sembradores, a K-5 literacy mentorship program with Lowell Elementary School.
  • Being a mentor for Strive for College, a college/career preparation mentorship program for high school youth.
  • Volunteering in the Campus Community Garden.
