Organization Description

The California Alliance of Child and Family Services is a nonprofit, membership organization that works to further policy and practices that improve services for children and families throughout the state. Members serve children and families in the Child Welfare, Behavioral Health and Education systems, as well as providing prevention and early intervention services. Our public policy staff develop a legislative and policy agenda in response to member’s feedback, and the Alliance sponsors and supports legislation that improves the systems in which our members provide services.

Health & Safety

As with any agency that is committed to public service, there are considerations for self care for students working at the California Alliance. Policy staff will often work directly with community members or direct service staff to push advocacy agendas. Many of the stories of strife and resilience that are shared by the members, whether it be in the context of co-creating legislation or by testimony at a hearing, can be challenging to hear. We here at the Alliance are intentional about creating spaces for support and dialogue among our staff members and strive to invest in our staff to support sustainability in the field.
