Student Success Intern – Office of the Provost

Position Description

The Student Success student assistants will work under the supervision of the Office of Assessment (Assessment Specialist and Faculty Fellow for Assessment) and work collaboratively with other members of the Office of the Provost.

Primary duties will include:

The Student Success Intern will work closely with the Office of Assessment Team (Assessment Specialist and Faculty Fellow for Assessment) to complete projects related to student success. These projects will be related to the work of the Reviewing Student Success workgroup of the Graduation Rate Excellence and Assessment Team (GREAT). The Intern will attend relevant meetings and may be required to co-present on to both the Reviewing Student Success workgroup and the larger GREAT Steering Committee on findings. An example of a potential project would be coding open-ended responses on a campus survey.

Qualified applicants are expected to demonstrate:

  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in a diverse environment with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment on real-life problems.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Qualitative and/or quantitative research skills.
  • Flexibility; ability to switch between tasks as required.
  • Interns must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of four (4) units.

Preferred Skills:

Working knowledge of Office database/process management, data visualization techniques, graphic design (e.g., Adobe InDesign), web design, and social media
