Position Description

Golden Retreat is an RCFE (residential care facility for the elderly). We have seniors living with dementia that require our care. They love to interact with students and truly appreciate their involvement, they think that someone cares to spend time with them. We involve the students to interact socially, play games, go for walks or just sit with them for a discussion. Over the years, we had some great interaction from exercising to music to dancing, playing Bingo, reading funnies. They absolutely love it!

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

The students should take away from their interaction that life is short and the people regardless of dementia or age are still human beings in need of love and interaction. Understanding of the aging process.

Desired Qualifications 

Students with heart that can help make this experience positive for all.

Length of Position: One Semester

Hours per Week: 2+
