Organization Description

The mission of the Monterey County District Attorney's Office is to promote justice, ensure that the rights of victims are upheld by treating them with dignity, respect and compassion, and aggressively and fairly prosecuting those who violate the law. 

Program Information

General Description of what students will be doing at this Site: The intern with the DA's Truancy Abatement Program would conduct group meetings at each school level to include, elementary, middle and high school. The intern would conduct group meetings at the school sites with parents, educating them about their responsibilities for their children’s education. The intern would also be available to meet one on one with students and parents to craft intervention plans for improved attendance and grades.

Key Responsibilities: The early intervention with families would allow the intern to refer the students and their parents to community resources to strengthen the family and protect the minors from the negative influence of the street.
