Organization Description

About MIT Academy Charter School Mare Island Technology Academy is Vallejo's first charter school, opened in 1999. We are a public charter, and ALL students are eligible to attend - there is no tuition. Charter schools are held to high accountability standards for student achievement and financial operation. We receive funds from the same State and local sources as other public schools. There are currently about 200 charter schools in California today. Charter Schools are designed meet local needs, and the educational experience is developed by our Community of: teachers parents students members of the business community organizations We are chartered by the Vallejo Unified School District (VCUSD). Our County Authority is the Solano County Office of Education. Our State Authority is the California Department of Education. Program Information

Inters will learn how to provide direct services to students and families while under guidance from the Counseling Department Director. MSW interns will learn from direct observation and on campus training. MSW interns will work directly with students leading a variety of activities ranging from group work to wellness center access and community resource development. Students will be working with an LCSW that is experienced in child welfare, hospital social work, ASW supervision and school social work.

Hours of operation 

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8-4 PM. The counseling office will be closed for all school breaks and holidays.
