Opportunity Summary 

Position Description

  • Ensure volunteers are regularly thanked for their service
  • Plan and host ongoing recognition events at local chapters
  • Send out birthday cards or other milestone recognition
  • Celebrate Red Cross volunteer anniversaries 
  • Support the planning and execution of the big Annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony
  • Offer new creative ideas on how to best appreciate our hard working volunteers
  • Meet monthly with other department’s Recognition & Appreciation Leads
  • This role will manage the coordination of the annual event planning calendar.
  • Some availability during standard office hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) required
  • Events may occur on the weekends
     

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

  • Gain valuable event planning experience 
  • Gain customer service and vendor relationship skills
  • Learn about employee engagement strategies and the impact of rewards & incentives on participation
  • Learn a new customer relationship management software (CRM) called Volunteer Connection
  • Exposure to a network of thousands of volunteers for networking opportunities

Length of Position: One Semester+

Hours per Week: 4 hours per week or more if needed
