A Community of Friends

Organization Description

A Community of Friends’ mission is to end homelessness through the provision of quality permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness.

A Community of Friends, a nonprofit organization providing permanent supportive housing for families who have been chronically homeless, many of whom suffer from mental illness and/or substance abuse. As part of our ongoing mission to end the vicious cycle of homelessness, we have launched an afterschool program that will provide children with the academic and emotional support so desperately needed in lives filled with trauma and suffering, and we would like interns interested in helping establish such program. Part of the afterschool program and intern responsibilities also involves the introduction of the arts for therapeutic and enrichment purposes along with free spirited excise and play.
