Video Production InternAt — Warrior Village Project
Position Description
Produce, write, edit and encode a series of six 2 – 3 minute videos on aspects of the Warrior Village Project, with a goal in mind of being able to compile the videos into a documentary of about 15 minutes in length. The individual videos will be posted on the Warrior Village Project website. The subjects of the videos will include:

- California Home Building Foundation
- Building Industry Association of San Diego County
- Associated General Contractors of San Diego
- School Partners:
- San Marcos High School & The San Marcos Promise
- North County Trade Tech High School
- Palomar College
- Mira Costa College

- Tri-City Medical Center
- TBD, a selection of local and national businesses
- Homelessness in San Diego County
- Non-profits serving the homeless
- Government officials and politicians

Learning Objectives and Outcomes
This position offers a unique opportunity to participate in a film project that will reach a wide audience. Interns will be mentored by Aaron Byzak, a member of the Tri-City Medical Center Executive Team and 4-time Emmy Award winner for writing and producing. Interns will meet, interview and film senior business, education, nonprofit and political leaders in San Diego County (primarily in North County).
This will be a great networking opportunity and valuable experience for aspiring filmmakers, writers, activists, or non-profit entrepreneurs. The videos will have a significant community impact by supporting the mission of the Warrior Village Project to provide affordable, permanent housing to homeless veterans while training the next generation of homebuilders.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience and functional knowledge of digital video production, including filming, editing, and graphics/sound.
- Access to and experience with Adobe Premiere or other relevant video production software and video/filming equipment.
Length of Position: Spring Semester 2020
Hours per Week: The hours will be flexible, because much of the work will be done independently, and the interviews required must be scheduled.
