Position Description

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

Students will gain hands-on, direct service experience with one of the nation's most recognizable nonprofits. They will have an impact by serving their community and helping those in need. Volunteers & Interns will gain valuable professional experience to add to their resume, volunteer/intern hours verification reports, and supervisory recommendations and references upon successful completion of the placement requirements. Students will also have the opportunity to gain new skills in disaster response and gain training to help in future disaster operations across the USA.

Desired Qualifications

Volunteers commit on average to serving 10 hours a month for a minimum of 6 months, preferably 1 year. Time commitments vary on the placement and position requirements. Internships can be accommodated to align the student's program requirements with the Red Cross department's needs.

A member of the Red Cross Screening Team will contact you once your application and standard background check are processed (can take up to 7 days).
The screening team's goal is to help you find the best placement within the organization. Once a position is identified, the screening team refers you to a department for an interview. If the department accepts your placement, then they will provide a formal orientation and set you up on any required training for the role.
