Virtual Marketing Assistant Intern for the Office of Alumni Relations

Description: The Warrior Alumni Association is seeking a Marketing Assistant to communicate with alumni, students, staff and others in the campus community on numerous online platforms. The student will help curate and create content for the Alumni Engagement social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn. Are you high energy, creative and a self-motivated student? Your Alumni Association would love to work with you to elevate Warrior Pride in the following ways:

  • Maintain and update alumni website ensuring information is current and relevant
  • Collaborate on video marketing projects 
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining social media presence across all channels including but not limited to posting, creating graphics and content creation
  • Assist in planning virtual alumni events and Alumni Council meetings
    • Setting up online registrations
    • Answering email inquiries from alumni
    • Creating event registrations website and ensuring events are properly posted
    • Monitoring registration numbers on events and post event follow up
    • Preparing presentations for virtual events
  • Clerical work
    • Preparing drafts of minutes from meetings
    • Organizing electronic files
    • Data entry
    • Administrative ad-hoc support for the Director of Alumni Engagement

This position requires:

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • The communication skills to interact well with all levels of staff and provide superior customer service including establishing and adhering to boundaries with clients and co-workers.
  • A thorough knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation, strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • An organized and detail-oriented approach to work and the ability to quickly establish a system for efficiently and accurately completing assigned tasks.
  • A professional presentation, decorum and attention to detail which are of paramount importance due to the high visibility of projects within the department.
  • A candidate who is dependable, reliable and punctual and has a good work ethic.

Preference may be given to:

  • Graduate and upper division students in public administration or communications related fields and those with event, web, and social media experience.

Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 3- to 6-month commitment. 

Hours: 8 – 12 hours/week of virtual/remote work Compensation: This is an unpaid, volunteer internship.
