Mission Statement: The CSULB Basic Needs department assists and immediately serves students who have been displaced, experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, an emergency, and/or a crisis. Basic Needs provides services and resources to remove barriers and empower students to persist and thrive in their educational journey towards academic success. Our services include meal assistance program, student emergency grant, LEADS medical grant, short-term emergency housing, rapid rehousing, and CalFresh support.

Health & Safety

Students will work on teams to develop recipes, videos, social marketing messages, etc. to contribute to this project.

Supervision will be provided by one of those coordinators that work within Basic Needs. Elizabeth Santana-Monterroso, CalFresh Outreach Coordinator, will supervise those students working under CalFresh Outreach. Dr.Virginia Gray, CalFresh Healthy Living Coordinator, will supervise those students working under CalFresh Healthy Living Program.Danielle Munoz, Director of Basic Needs, will serve as alternate supervisor in absence of primary supervisors.
