Opportunity Summary 

Position Description  

The Teaching Assistant (TA) will support course instruction through a variety of academic and administrative responsibilities. Duties include holding regular office hours to provide student support, facilitating study sessions and exam review sessions, grading assignments and coursework in a timely manner, and assisting with updating and maintaining study guides, review materials, and exam preparation resources. The TA will also communicate with students as needed and work collaboratively with the instructor to support student learning and course organization.

Learning Outcomes  

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to support course instruction by holding office hours, leading review sessions, grading assignments, and helping create study materials. The student will also communicate professionally with students and collaborate with the instructor to support learning and course organization.

Training  

To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will teach the student how to grade assignments using a grading rubric and provide feedback fairly and consistently. I will review course materials with the student and demonstrate effective methods for helping students understand and access the material. I will guide the student in leading review sessions and holding office hours by modeling clear communication and student support strategies. I will also mentor the student in professional communication and collaboration skills needed to work effectively with instructors and students.

Tasks/Duties  

The intern will demonstrate the learning outcomes by grading assignments and exams using established rubrics, providing constructive and consistent feedback to students, reviewing and explaining course materials to support student understanding, assisting students during office hours and review sessions, communicating effectively with instructors and students in both written and verbal formats, responding to student questions in a professional and supportive manner, collaborating with instructional staff on course-related tasks, and applying fair and inclusive teaching practices while supporting student learning.
