Organization Description

Our mission is to make the benefits and opportunities of renewable energy accessible to communities on the front lines of economic and environmental injustice.

Program Information

Since 2007, GRID Alternatives has served over 2000 households, installed 14 clean energy systems for community organizations, saved customers approximately $50.6 million in lifetime energy savings, provided 4,175 under-served community members with hands-on (on-the-roof) training and in 2019, connected 87 trainees to good paying jobs with our solar installation partners.

Geographic area served: Orange, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. (SB 535 communities)

Approximate number of people served annually: 150-200 families per year

Health & Safety

All work will be virtual until our organization is able to conduct in person outreach again.

Students will need to check in with lead daily via email and during scheduled weekly check-in meetings.
