The City Council and Staff of the City of Gonzales will realize our Vision by providing the leadership, commitment and resources necessary to provide excellent services that enhance the quality of life of our diverse  community. 

City services will be delivered in a cost-effective, respectful and friendly manner to insure the safety and well being of the residents and the promotion of business, recreational, housing and employment opportunities in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Program Information

General Description of what students will be doing at this Site: Supporting the City with a multitude of projects specifically around community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the community engagement and strategic partnership with a variety of programs in an effort to engage local residents in civic participation.
  • Be able to utilize programs like publisher to support the development of multimedia tools.
  • Support social marketing and engagement through online town halls, polls and questionnaires through Facebook and email list.
  • Help create and implement innovative engagement opportunities for the public.
  • Helping to coordinate a rental assistance program and connecting with clients via phone and email.

Desired Intern Characteristics:

  • Computer literate: zoom, excel, social media, ppt, word, etc.
  • Dependable, strong communications skills, bilingual preferred.
  • Independent worker.
  • Multi tasker and self starter. 

Interprofessional opportunities available for the student: Opportunity to learn the inner makings of city government. Learn how to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and how to support community in engaging with city leaders and in decision-making.
