Organization Description

We are a zoological institution with over 2,200 animals from over 360 different species. We are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and are licensed as a USDA class C exhibitor.

Program Information

We will focus on recordkeeping in a zoological context, including an introduction to our recordkeeping system, ZIMS (Zoological Information Management System):

  • File management of current and historical animal records
  • File management of daily animal reports
  • Assisting zoo librarian with archival holdings
  • Creating a system to manage profiles of animal vendors
  • Other projects based on need, skills and time available
Health & Safety

It is advised that the student be current on vaccinations, including a flu-shot, though it is not mandatory.

Currently, masks are required in all public spaces, indoors or outdoors. Our campus is a tobacco-free environment, which includes vaping and -e-cigarettes.
