Position Description (e.g. tasks, projects, assignments)
Under general supervision, provides quality care to children in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. Within the program’s daily schedule, ensures each child has the opportunity to create, explore, and learn problem solving skills through self-initiated and teacher-directed activities. Our program requires candidates to be flexible and patient when working with children, especially the children we serve who are on the autism spectrum. Understands and implements naturalistic intervention strategies to assist children with special needs in interacting with peers and developing communication skills. Coordinates efforts with other teachers and staff in the classroom.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes
Learns how to create developmentally appropriate curricula in an inclusive classroom, learns how to engage children from different backgrounds, learns how to use appropriate intervention strategies that are individual to each child

Desired Qualifications
Coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Interest in gaining experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder.
