Long Beach Residents Empowered (LiBRE)
Long Beach Residents Empowered (LiBRE) is a grassroots community organizing group advancing justice in disadvantaged communities through the creation and preservation of affordable housing, renter protections, and community economic development.
We might do occasional in person outreach in local neighborhoods if COVID cases are not currently on the rise. Since most work is done remotely a student will need access to a laptop or smart phone and wifi. We encourage students who make calls to create a Google Voice account to protect their personal identity. Before students begin volunteering for online outreach, we will do a virtual 1 hour training. There will be designated times during the week that students can join for collective outreach sessions but they are not required to attend. They can make up hours on their own time as long as they report their shifts and call / text outcomes.
Students will check in with their supervisors to give them training and instructions on their work responsibilities. Supervisors will also debrief after their shift and check them out.

LiBRE usually operates Monday-Friday from 10 am- 8 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2pm. Very flexible scheduling for students and their schedules. Work can be done remotely from home.
