Program Information

Internship tasks include:

  • Assessing the condition of an assigned collection of the DSSRA, and performing preservation methods to areas where they are determined to be needed such as re-housing, or otherwise stabilizing brittle materials;
  • Creating a processing plan, including a strategy for arrangement and levels of description of the collection;
  • Creating an finding aid in accordance with DACS, EAD-encoding it and submitting it to the Online Archive of California;
  • Pending schedule and progress, there may be some opportunities for digitizing processed materials and creating metadate for their presence on Calisphere.

By the end of this opportunity, the student will have learned... How to assess and preserve a brittle collection
and how to digitze a collection.
