Opportunity Summary 

1) Students may work with and mentor youth, ages 12-21 years old, that may have been in the Foster Care system, currently in the Foster Care system, homes, and groups, along with those in Juvenile Detention Centers. Opportunities to speak life to them, assist with basic skills learning, and provide day-to-day mentoring as they transition to adulthood and re-enter society.

2) Students may have hands-on experience with learning case management paperwork, tracking, meeting with our students, and helping develop programs and systems for them.

WOSMOH is also interested in working directly with faculty from varied disciplines to build service-learning projects that support course outcomes.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

The students will learn all about the Foster Care system and Juvenile Justice System and how to assist and/or possibly be employed by these systems. 

Students will also learn how to properly engage Foster youth, how to properly track programs, and how to track the progress of each of the students.

Opportunity Training 

Day to day hands on and follow up on learning Case management, mentoring and teaching youth.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

We host safety training on how to interact and work with the youth we serve.
