Organization Description

Trends Careers has been proudly serving the San Francisco Bay Area since 2017. Our portfolio of career services aims to support individuals in their career ambitions through talent development, American Sign Language (ASL), and Spanish interpreting services throughout the job search process.

Program Information

Career Counselor Interns are responsible for supporting clients with disabilities gain employment and develop working relationships with clients to build interview skills, develop resumes, career coaching through the job search process, job placement, and retention. Career counselor interns will gain experience and knowledge in the career counseling process plus the rewards and challenges of diversifying the workforce regardless of job seekers’ education and experience. They will have the opportunity for frontline advocacy and accommodations in the workplace while making a positive contribution to disadvantaged individuals.

At the end of the internship, students will have gained first-hand experience working as a career counselor in a safe and educational environment. The skills they acquire will be directly related to a career path as a career counselor, or supportive of any career path within the field of counseling and human resource management.

Health & Safety

Trends provides services to individuals with physical and learning disabilities. Trends will be selective in which clients interact with students to provide the best possible learning experience for the students.

Students will be responsible for operating similarly to career counselors providing support to clients going through the career development process, including meetings between client and student, students operating on the behalf of clients to complete applications and conduct job searches, and students keeping records of the services rendered. These assignments will not be regularly supervised.

  • Must be 18 or older
  • POPULATION SERVED: Students will be working with "behaviorally challenged" populations.
  • SUPERVISION: Students will be supervised less than 50% of the time.
