Opportunity Summary 

Diversity Collective is the premier LGBTQ organization in Ventura County. We offer programs for youth 9-13 and 13-23, an adult social program, and HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention.

***Spring 2022 potential service-learning projects:

1) AIDS Walk (March 2022) - Students can assist with event planning, social media outreach

2) Clothing Drive - Students can assist with a business plan that will cover outreach, donation collection, distribution, etc.

3) Communication students can assist with attending and documenting events, social media outreach, and newsletter content.

In general, Diversity Collective is interested in the following service-learning projects:

1)  Marketing, Sociology, Biology, Education, and/or Business students can support HIV/AIDS programming (increasing awareness while providing education and information about treatment/prevention through surveying sexual and reproductive health providers). 

2) Students can support the development of on-site resources for the transgender community such as a trans closet and food pantry.

3) Communication, Art, and Business students can assist with social media and marketing for program awareness.

4) A needs assessment is needed to better understand the resources and support available at CSU Channel Islands for LQBT+ individuals. 

Diversity Collective Ventura County is also interested in working directly with faculty from varied disciplines to build service-learning projects that support learning course outcomes.

Opportunity Training 

RISE Training (cultural competency) COVID 19 safety specific training as needed for a project
