Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services

Program Information

We have an intern unit where the student receives an overall child welfare social worker experience. All students gain training and experience in Emergency Response investigation, Court Family Maintenance and Court Family Reunification programs, as well as Voluntary Family Maintenance. Students are paired with several mentors over the year and are assigned a variety of tasks in the major programs. Students will assess for risk and safety of children in their home of origin. In some cases, students may be tasked to supervisor visits for parents whose children are in out of home placements and also conduct home visits for guardianship cases.
