Service-Learning OpportunitiesAt — Westminster Free Clinic - Thousand Oaks
Projects vary annually. We always need students to help with our food equity program.
1) For English speakers: blood pressure, fingerstick (if certified), height and weight, front office administrative activities in a medical clinic, marketing, strategic planning, fund development, writing articles on the need for health access, updating website, program evaluation, exercise program implementation, Reach Out and Read program assistance, medication tech assistance
2) For Spanish Speaking: patient translation, conduct patient telephone surveys, data collection, nutrition education, patient assistance, clinic outreach program to local businesses and in uninsured communities.
Westminster Free Clinic is also interested in working directly with faculty from varied disciplines to build service-learning projects that support course outcomes.
Students will learn about the mission, services, and population this organization serves and the issues that impact this population.
Training varies by program.
For food equity program, students need to be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
