FALL 2022
Coastal Cleanup Day - On Saturday, September 17th, we are hosting CI’s third annual Coastal Cleanup Day. This event will begin at El Dorado Park, where participants will be given supplies and make their way around the campus to clean up litter. During this event, students will get involved in campus activities and learn about the harmful effects of littering in the environment and how damaging trash is when it enters our waterways.
Trash Talkers - Students have the opportunity to help improve waste diversion on campus! Trash talking is the act of engaging students to inform and spread the knowledge of proper waste sorting and to raise awareness about CI’s new food waste separation for composting. Trash Talkers would be asked to stand near 3-stream waste bins in specific campus locations, greet people as they approach with waste, and ask if they can help them sort their waste. Using signs posted as a visual reference, Trash Talkers would explain how to separate waste into the proper bins.
CSUCI Facilities Services is interested in working directly with faculty from varied disciplines to build service-learning projects that support course outcomes.
Students will learn about the mission, services, and population this organization serves and the issues that impact this population.
