Opportunity Summary 

Do you want to understand land management drivers and work on a restoration project to show what is working and where efforts were less effective? Gain real life experience in the evaluation an 8 year ongoing restoration project. Determine key and measurable metrics of success and activity, using both field and mapping skills.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

The pitfalls and successes of data collection and analysis. How to tell meaningful stories with data. Taking a broader view of a problem to be able to relate it to other land managers. Native and invasive plants.

Opportunity Training 

Students expected to have a working knowledge of Excel and ESRI mapping. Site and project specific information. Training on materials used, procedures and metrics. Student will have assistance, but work independently, to synthesize a methodology to evaluate progress and performance of restoration goals. Native and invasive plants of the area

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

This project will involve the identification of plants in wild land. Must be outdoor saavy, including carrying and drinking water, appropriate clothing and shoes and a knowledge of how to handle oneself safely.
