FOOD PANTRY -- ESCONDIDOAt — Interfaith Community Services
Directly combat hunger by bagging a five-day supply of groceries to individuals and families currently food insecure. By filling the orders placed in our emergency food pantry and stocking shelves with food, you will be working towards achieving Interfaith’s goal of helping underserved populations in North San Diego County.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrive on time each scheduled day
- Fill panty orders in a timely manner for individuals or families
- Assist donors in transporting donations from their vehicles to the pantry
- Receive and record donations appropriately
- Organize incoming food (canned and fresh)
- Reorganize food on the shelves placing earliest expiration date items in front
- Help stock shelves
- Wipe down pantry shelves
- Sweep and mop pantry floor
- Maintain an organized and safe working space
- Work in tandem with other Interfaith staff and volunteers
What to Wear: Please wear closed-toe shoes, pants or shorts, tee shirt or whatever shirt you prefer. Wearing layers is a plus -- the kitchen may be cold at first, but quickly warms up. Interfaith will provide you with a hat (baseball cap) or wear your favorite hat (or you will need to wear a hairnet Interfaith provides).
Qualifications:
- Outgoing, friendly, helpful demeanor; a true team player
- Thrive at working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs
- Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Ability to speak Spanish helpful, but not required
Training and Support:
• Volunteer Services provides general orientation on services and programs provided by Interfaith Community Services.
• Donor database training.
• Training on phone and computer system.
• Ongoing oversight from supervising staff to provide direction, training and feedback on specific program and department activities, procedures, priorities, performance, and agency updates.
