DESCRIPTION: This is an opportunity to work on creating graphics for Square Tree Publishing such as; book cover jackets, t-shirt designs, logos, and book designs. We are seeking a resourceful intern who can assist in all aspects of graphic design to promote Square Tree Publishing books.

YOU: Incredibly strong desire to learn the ins and outs of book publishing sector. Exceptional graphic skills. Ability to handle multiple, immediate tasks while paying close attention to detail is a must. Ability to work as a member of a team and to carry out assignments. Basic technical and computer skills a must (Microsoft Office, Google Drive, MAC OS X) Advanced technical and editing skills a huge plus, but not required (Adobe Creative Suite [Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator], Wordpress). Knowledge of InDesign is desirable.

The internship will provide a context for student to gain practical experience to build his or her portfolio. Ideally, intern should have a working knowledge of graphic software.

The internship hours can be flexible to class and work schedules. However, the intern will be expected to complete assigned work, be accountable to commitments, and attend certain events that need to be filmed. Internship will include an estimated 8-10 hours per week or more. Candidates should be dependable, reliable, and enthusiastic. Candidates should demonstrate initiative and commitment.

Develop a logo for new podcast
Create a T-Shirt design for customer SQTR shirts
Book design interiors
Exterior Cover Jackets (If high enough skill sets)

Training:

New intern orientation and weekly mentoring by CEO. VIRTUAL Job shadowing during graphic creation. Weekly training on various duties including, but not limited to, logo development, collateral development, and graphic material development.

Learning Outcomes:

The internship will provide a context for student to gain practical experience to build his or her portfolio. The student will gain knowledge in graphic design for marketing and book design for a publishing company. The intern will also learn practical skills for online marketing.
