St. Junipero Serra Catholic School

Organization Description

Motivated by the teaching of Saint Junipero Serra and the persevering spirit of our founding families, we nurture our students to live and model their Catholic faith as servant leaders of Christ. Guided by the Holy Spirit, St. Junipero Serra students are encouraged to use their God-given gifts and talents to serve the challenges of this ever-changing world.

Program Information

We educate our students to meet the spiritual, academic, and moral challenges of the future by providing opportunities to develop the Catholic values and critical thinking skills needed in ethical decision-making, academic growth, and personal development. We are committed to providing a diverse curriculum, using technology as a tool for learning. In the spirit of the Gospel, the parents, teachers and administration of St. Serra strive to educate and develop the unique potential of each student spiritually, academically, physically, psychologically.

St. Junipero Serra Catholic School is valued as a leading Diocesan Catholic Parish Elementary School located in South Orange County. We serve approximately 1,000 students from the surrounding areas of Rancho Santa Margarita, Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Tranuco Canyon and Ladera Ranch.

Health & Safety

9/24/2021 - Rochelle sent Risk Assessment Questions and Ellen's Responses

The opportunity is  listed as onsite so I have a few risk assessment questions:

o   What CDC guidelines does your organization follow to ensure the health and safety of their staff, students and volunteers?  All students and staff are wearing masks when indoors. We are socially distancing as much as possible and hand sanitizer is available at all school and classroom entrances.

o   Do you have a link to a virtual message on how your organization will comply with CDC guidelines? If so, what is the link? https://www.serraschool.org/editoruploads/files/Guidelines_for_the_2021-22_School_Year__1_.pdf

o   How often will the student volunteers completing their service learning placement be required to come to the organization? Allison is scheduled to come one day a week.

o   Are there any aspects of the position(s) that can happen virtually? If we end up moving to distant learning, Allison could join the class virtually.

We ask that interns put their cell phones away while observing in the classroom and supervising students.
