Open Source Wellness (OSW)

Organization Description

Representing the next generation of behavioral medicine and operating at the intersection of healthcare and community, OSW is a scalable delivery system for the health behaviors underlying individual and population-level health outcomes and costs. OSW is the first “behavioral pharmacy” where four transdiagnostic health behaviors (physical movement, nutritious food, social support, and stress reduction) are delivered. We partner with low-income clinics (FQHCs), low-income housing, and underserved communities to specifically target chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, depression, and social isolation.

Program Information

Facilitation of OSW programming. Based on their existing skills and the training we provide, Interns may host OSW days/evenings, facilitate physical movement, help prepare healthy food, and/or lead guided mindfulness practice. Those with skill or interest in health coaching are trained and supported in providing coaching, mentorship, and support to OSW participants around health-related lifestyle changes. Key skills include a welcoming, warm, and attentive interpersonal presence and a willingness to learn.
