STEAM Mentoring Program AideAt — My Sister's Keeper Success Institute, Inc
Program aides with MSKSI will assist the primary teacher/mentor with a number of duties. MSKSI staff responsibilities include group instruction and supervision, clarifying instructions, checking for learning, engaging students in discussion, and helping students with projects. To be effective, aides should be able to allow the lead mentor to stay on task by helping struggling students, and work well with the program's population. They should have attention to detail, excellent conflict resolution and communication skills, and show enthusiasm for the subject they support. Aides should also be able to give and receive instruction, as well as work independently. Although the programs aren't long – typically one to three hours after school – they provide great experience on your resume if you decide to become an educator.
Knowledge of online classroom management & in person classroom management, MSKSI Program Aides should be able to reinforce the lesson by tutoring individual students or holding discussion groups consisting of a small number of students, utilizing online/zoom break-out rooms. If in-person instruction, the aide might circulate throughout the room to answer questions or explain concepts. Aides might also write problems or key terms on the blackboard while the teacher is presenting the material.
Training can be conducted in person or online (Zoom) covering an overview of organizational structure and programs, MSKSI Program Aide responsibilities, review of subject content and syllabus, situational interview questions and coaching, and safety review.
Online classroom safety protocol, fraternization, and limited contact outside of the program with minors, drug and alcohol zero tolerance.
