California Families in Focus
The Mission of California Families in Focus is to develop and provide positive and innovative events and social service programs for youth and their families to achieve empowerment and purpose. Our organization works with all youth regardless of ethnicity, race, gender or sexual orientation. We provide tutoring and mentoring to school aged youth ages 12-17 from the greater Long Beach area but we do a lot more than that. Our projects, programs and events are: I matter 2 anti-bullying and suicide awareness campaign: which includes a fashion show, conference and resource fair and a festival. The Kimberly Maddox Youth Scholarship program: where we select one or two deserving students to give a scholarship to help them with their education. The HALO Project: which includes visiting seniors and helping them with activities they have a rough time doing, the Padrino/Madrina project, which provides custom made suits and gowns to students who cannot afford them for prom or graduation, volunteering for special needs events, visiting youth diagnosed with cancer and bringing them stuffed animals, hugs and joy. The Rainbow Family Festival: This is a one day festival for the LGBTQ community specifically families with children. The Spirit of Christmas: One day event where we treat women and children living in domestic violence and drug rehab shelters like royalty by providing food, gifts, empowerment, resources and lots of love for the holidays.
We work with youth and seniors and long term volunteers/interns will have to go through a background check.
