Opportunity Summary 

An Intern with the Digital Drawing Curriculum Development Team will have the opportunity to be a team member and participate in the development and implementation of new curriculum components to the AMD 312 Digital Drawing class. This class is taught by Lecturer, Tony Allard.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

• How new curriculum for the Digital Drawing class is developed • How this new curriculum is integrated into the existing course work • How updates to this course content/drawing modules in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are implemented • The theory behind Lecturer Allard’s paradigm shift of drawing as a static object in the analogue world to drawing as an event in the digital world • How to put together “Basics Docs”, which are tutorials used to teach the basics of the software and hardware that students in the Digital Drawing class use • How to research and test new hardware and software relevant to the Digital Drawing class • How to research and test new hardware and software relevant to the Digital Drawing class that is specifically focused on drawing in Artificially Intelligent (AI) environments) and the newly emerging Mixed Realities MR • How to design, develop and present live, digital drawing performances in Virtual Reality (VR) using the Oculus Quest 2 headsets. • How to develop new curriculum components in collaboration with IITS • How to develop a Student – Faculty collective (the DOWNSTREAM Collective) that is geared towards creating collaborative projects • How to develop and create an Experimental Drawing Center based in the Inspiration Studios In collaboration with IITS, the School of Arts and other disciplines

Opportunity Training 

• Trained in testing new course content to the Digital Drawing class • Trained in how to complete the current course content/drawing modules in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) • Trained in how to apply the theory behind Lecturer Allard’s paradigm shift of drawing as a static object in the analogue world to drawing as an event in the digital world into actual artistic practice • Trained in how to create “Basics Docs”, which are tutorials used to teach the basics of the software and hardware that students in the Digital Drawing class use • Trained in how to research and test new hardware and software relevant to the Digital Drawing class • Trained in how to research and test new hardware and software relevant to the Digital Drawing class that is specifically focused on drawing in Artificially Intelligent (AI) environments) and the newly emerging Mixed Realities MR • Trained in how to design, develop and present live, digital drawing performances in Virtual Reality (VR) using the Oculus Quest 2 headsets. • Trained in the development process of new curriculum in collaboration with IITS • Trained in designing and developing the Student – Faculty collective (the DOWNSTREAM Collective) • Trained in creating and developing an Experimental Drawing Center based in the Inspiration Studios In collaboration with IITS, the School of Arts and other disciplines
