MSW II Student InternAt — Sac Co DHS - Mental Health Adult Psychiatric Support Services (APSS)

Opportunity Summary 

Be able to learn to conduct a full-bio-psycho-social intake process and service plan in EHR (electric health record) Avatar), ;learn CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) basics short term individual and group counseling utilizing a holistic strength based approach. Learn to collaborate and participate in a MDT (multi-disciplinary team) setting and case presentations.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Student will have learned how to conduct a full bio-psycho-social assessment and treatment plan and basic CBT skills for both group and individual clients. Student will have the skill to complete a measurable evidence based treatment plan. Student will have met basic requirements for employment as entry level counselor.

Opportunity Training 

All students will attend training in note writing and assessment skills. Students will shadow licensed counselors and psychiatrists. Other training opportunities will arise through out the semester that include CBT/ DBT skills overviews strength based models at scheduled and weekly MDT (multi-disciplinary team meetings).

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Proof of covid vaccinations and booster are required. County Safety Policies and Procedures will be reviewed in the first few days of internship
