Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

For service-learning at OPAC, students will gain hands-on experience while developing essential skills in the arts and nonprofit sector. Here are some key learning outcomes:

Opportunity Training 

At OPAC, we provide hands-on training and mentorship to ensure students feel confident and supported throughout their service-learning experience. Our training includes:

-Arts & Cultural Programming Overview – Learn about OPAC’s role in the community and how we use the arts to engage and inspire.

-Event Production Basics – Get trained in event planning, logistics, and backstage support for performances, exhibitions, and community programs.

-Marketing & Outreach Skills – Develop promotional strategies, including social media, flyer design, and audience engagement techniques.

-Professional Development – Receive guidance in teamwork and problem-solving in a nonprofit arts setting.

-Technical Training (as needed) – Gain hands-on experience in audio/visual setup, gallery installation, or stage management, depending on your role.

Students will work closely with experienced mentors and have access to resources that build both creative and professional skills—preparing them for careers in the arts, nonprofits, and beyond!

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move equipment and objects up to 25 lbs. several times per week. The job also requires the employee to bend, stoop, and reach on a regular basis, often several times per day. For example, you’d be expected to move and set up tables, chairs and tents for events and programs such as classes and festivals.

Must be able to work in different work environments to include office as well as work outside exposed to prevailing weather conditions for special events.
