BSW Care CoordinatorAt — Los Rios CCD - Mental Health and Wellness Services

Opportunity Summary 

BSW interns will act as Care Coordinators (Case Managers) for a diverse population of community college students at any one (or all if remote) of the Los Rios campuses (ARC, CRC, SCC, FLC). BSW Interns will work closely with therapists, receiving referrals to support college students to connect to outside mental health resources, basic needs resources and connect students with on campus resources. Interns will get to learn what it is like to work in an academic setting and be a part of campus based mental health services for college students. Students will have the opportunity to observe MSW level interns as well as licensed clinicians and support trainings and outreach events.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

How to be an effective case manager, how to support clients in developing client led goals, how to present clients in supervision and how to chart in an electronic health record.

Opportunity Training 

Interns will be provided with an initial orientation that will teach specifically on how to develop client led case management goals and how to support clients in self advocacy and when to act as a liaison between clients and organizations. Interns will be given the time and tasked with delving into on campus resources as well as community mental health resources for use in work with clients. Interns will be trained on appropriate documentation in an electronic health record.
