Opportunity Summary 

MSW II interns will have the opportunity to have a diverse experience gaining skills in integrated healthcare such as case management, warm handoffs, therapy and working closely with medical staff to ensure patients receive appropriate care to address their mental health needs. Opportunities within the behavioral health department include participation and assistance in the medication assistant treatment (MAT), street medicine, and clinical therapeutic counseling.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will be able to independently assess patients' need for behavioral health services, support and coordinate services with the patient's mental health team, and provide interventions to patients as needed.

Opportunity Training 

Mandatory online and in-person trainings as well as significant time with shadowing and skill engagement with various staff members of the agency.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Student will be on-site at a community healthcare clinic which administers COVID testing and vaccinations.
